June 11, 12, 13  2012 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)

It is commonly known that there is a lack of training for Animal Cruelty Investigators and Animal Control Officers. This training was developed with that in mind. The course covers a variety of topics not normally discussed at seminars and conferences simply due to lack of time. This class should be attended by all investigators new and veteran because of the ever-changing content.

This is a non-traditional method of investigation instruction featuring interactive instruction and heavy class participation. The course is focused on the Adult Learning Style of instruction. It incorporates problem-based learning and allows the student to learn through carefully selected and designed problems that demand the learner to acquire critical knowledge, problem solving proficiency, self-directed learning strategies, and team participation skills. The process replicates the commonly used systemic approach to resolving problems or meeting challenges that are encountered in life and career.

All students will be given assignments to complete. Course attendees comment that this course is unlike any that they have ever experienced and usually retain more information due to the mock scenarios and outdoor setting of the investigations portion. Attendees will play an active role in Crime Scene Reconstruction, Crime Scene Investigation, Evidence Gathering, as well as Search Warrant Preparation. Again this year, ASTAC Inc. will be offering a block of instruction featuring Animal Bloodsports.

Advanced registration is required for this course due to the popularity of the instruction being offered and limited space. Cost for the course is $175.00 per person if paid before May 11, 2012. Any registrations after this date will be $225.00 and all registrations after this date are non-refundable.

The course will be held at the Gaston County Citizen’s Resource Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy Dallas,NC 28034. There will be an offsite location for the mock crime scene approximately 8 miles away.

There are many hotels located within a 5-10 mile radius of the class location if you will be staying overnight. No meals will be provided but there are many locations very close by. Class time is 8:00 – 4:30 each day.  If you require more personal attention, you may contact Thomas Adair at (704) 718-5308 M-F 8:00 - 6:00 EST
