North Carolina 6 Hour Update Course

North Carolina General Statutes state that to be appointed as an Animal Cruelty Investigator you must have at least six hours of training provided by an agency every year. To read the statute in its entirety

ASTAC has developed courses that specifically target this requirement and provide instruction via the internet. Courses are interactive with the instructor and require the student to have access to e-mail. Assignments are turned in and graded. The courses are self-paced but typically takes in excess of six hours to complete. There is a timed post-test following the completion of course material.

To have the greatest assurance that you get credit for any ASTAC online course, please print the topics that are covered for the course you wish to take and submit them to your county commissioners and/or direct supervisor for approval.

Animal Control personnel that are employed by a government agency are not typically required to meet this mandate to investigate animal abuse. They are empowered through other means via ordinance and/or certain injunctions.

Currently all online tests are under going maintenance so that we may bring you a more exciting online experience!
